Route notes

What buyers and operators need to know.

01

What is the core commercial document set?

The invoice records the transaction and the packing list records how the goods are packed. Their descriptions, quantities, values, weights, parties, and references should align with the purchase order and customs inputs.

02

Which documents vary by shipment?

Origin preference, product regulation, food or plant health, dangerous goods, insurance, inspection, letters of credit, and destination rules can each add documents.

  • Certificate of origin
  • License, permit or registration
  • Inspection, health or test certificate
  • Insurance and bank-required documents
03

When should the list be confirmed?

Confirm it before quoting and again before dispatch. A destination or payment requirement discovered after cargo reaches the terminal may be expensive or impossible to correct in time.
